The fit of the boot should be neither too loose nor too tight; the leg should feel snug as the boot will stretch slightly over time and they should always have a fitted look. However, as the leather is broken in, the height will decrease by approximately 3/4″-1 1/2″, therefore a well fitting, tall riding boot should have that “too tall” feel. (As this may be uncomfortable at the back of your knee, a heel wedge should be used to lift the heel to avoid the discomfort until the boot is broken in.)
